Hydraulic Ram Pump

The Hydraulic Ram comprises an acrylic base incorporating pulse and non-return valves and a supply reservoir on a stand which is fed by the Hydraulics Bench. An air vessel above the valve chamber smooths cyclic fluctuations from the ram delivery.
The weights supplied may be applied to the pulse valve to change the closing pressure and hence the operating characteristics.

Computerized Single Cylinder Diesel Engine Test Setup

Computerized Single Cylinder Diesel Engine Test Setup

The test setup consists of Four stroke Diesel Engine coupled to a suitable dynamometer. The engine is single cylinder, water cooled diesel engine running at constant speed. The dynamometer provides variable load on engine to study engine performance under variable load conditions. A wide range of dynamometers is available as option for the engine test set up. Exhaust gas calorimeter is used for estimation of heat carried away by exhaust gases for determination of heat balance of the engine. Air is supplied to the engine through an air box, fitted with orifice plate. The instrumentation console includes measuring instruments for Engine Speed, Torque, Air consumption, Fuel Consumption, temperature & cooling water flow rates. The parameters are recorded by the sensors & transmitted to Data Acquisition Device. The Data Acquisition Device sends the data to computer & which is displayed in the Data Acquisition Software.
DATA ACQUISITION SOFTWARE
Windows based software developed in LabView Platform is capable of displaying real time acquired data in graphical & numerical format. The acquired data is processed by software & results are displayed in tabular & graphical format. The test results can be saved on computer hard drive in form of Excel files. Detailed Operation & Maintenance Manual is provided along with the trainer.

The test setup consists of Four Cylinder Petrol Engine coupled to Eddy Current / Hydraulic Dynamometer. The engine is advanced MPFI Petrol Engine with Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The dynamometer provides variable load on engine to study engine performance under variable load conditions. The engine can be operated at different throttle settings enabling investigation of engine performance at different speeds. Exhaust gas calorimeter is used for estimation of heat carried away by exhaust gases for determination of heat balance of the engine. Air is supplied to the engine through an air box, fitted with orifice plate. Arrangement has been made to conduct Morse Test of the engine to determine its frictional power.
The instrumentation console includes measuring instruments for Engine Speed, Torque, Air consumption, Fuel Consumption & temperature of water, gases.

Re-Circulating Air Conditioning Trainer

The re-circulating air conditioning trainer is designed to study different air conditioning processes & performance analysis of refrigeration cycle in Air Conditioning. The trainer consists of an air conditioned chamber which houses the electric load bank. The heater load is controlled by a dimmer. There are three ducts, each for Fresh Air, Recirculated Air & Exhaust Air. Each duct is fitted with damper to control amount of air flowing through it. In order to study Humidification process a Steamer is also provided.
The refrigeration system consists of a hermetically sealed compressor, air cooled condenser, expansion device & finned tube evaporator. The evaporator coil is fitted inside the inlet duct. Refrigerant R-22 is used in the trainer.
The measuring instruments are provided to measure Temperature & pressure of refrigerant cycle, Refrigerant Flow, Power Supplied to compressor & Heater Load.

Ice Plant Trainer

The Ice Plant Trainer is designed to demonstrate ice manufacturing process & to analyze Refrigeration Cycle at low temperatures. The ice plant capacity is 10 Kg/day.
The trainer uses Hermetic Compressor, Air Cooled Condenser, Capillary Tube & coiled evaporator immersed in brine tank. Ice cans are placed in brine tank on a steel frame. Low speed stirrer is fitted to the brine tank to maintain uniform brine temperature. Brine tank is insulated & inner tank is made of stainless steel.
CFC free refrigerant R-134a is used in the system & is pre charged in the system.
Instruments to measure Cycle Pressure, Temperatures at different points, Power Consumption are fitted on Instrument panel. Flow of refrigerant is measured on Glass tube Rotameter fitted with calibrated scale. High & Low Pressure cutoff switch & thermostat are provided as safety devices.

EXPERIMENTAL CAPABILITIES:
• To demonstrate working of Ice Plant working on Vapor Compression Refrigeration Cycle.
• To draw refrigeration cycle on P-h Diagram & calculate enthalpy at different points.
• To calculate COP of Refrigeration Cycle.
• To calculate Ice Making capacity of the Plant.
