Emissivity Apparatus
The Emissivity Apparatus consists of two similar aluminium discs. One of the discs is coated with black color and behaves like a black surface and the other disc is having a machined plane surface. Discs are fitted with similar heaters. The discs are placed in the enclosure in the symmetrical manner. Heater terminals taken out from the enclosure are connected to the mains of supply through dimmer stat to vary the heater input.. Temperature of each disc is measured by 3 thermocouples. One more thermocouple is placed inside the enclosure to measure surrounding temperature.The control panel consists of a two dimmers to control the voltage supplied to each heaters. A Voltmeter, an ammeter measures the voltage & current supplied to each heater. A digital temperature indicator reads the temperatures recorded by thermocouples.

Stephen Boltzman Apparatus
Stephen Boltzman Apparatus consists of a hemisphere which is placed inside a tank; the hemisphere is immersed in water when water is poured in the tank. The hemisphere has a cover with hole through which a small copper disc can be located at the centre of hemisphere. Five thermocouples are located on inner surface of the hemisphere while a thermocouple is fitted on the copper disc. The inner surface of the hemisphere as well as the test disc are coated with lamp black color. Water inside the tank is heated by an immersion heater. A temperature controller is provided for controlling the temperature of the water by controlling the heater.

The Pin Fin Apparatus is designed to determine heat transfer from an extended surface (Pin). It consists of a metallic pin-fin which is heated at one end by electric heater. The heat is conducted along the length & is flows out from the pin surface. Five thermocouples are embedded along the length of the pin to measure the temperature distribution, one more thermocouple is placed inside the suction duct to measure the air temperature. A blower provides forced convection of air by blowing the air at high velocity. Flow rate of blower is measured by orifice plate & U Tube Manometer. The control panel consists of a dimmers stat to control the voltage supplied to the heating element. A Voltmeter, an ammeter and a digital temperature indicator are also provided.

Universal Governor Apparatus The setup consists of a drive Motor & governor spindle mounted vertically on a rigid baseplate. A graduated scale is fixed to the sleeve and guided in vertical direction. The center sleeve of the porter and proell governor incorporates a weight sleeve to which weights may be added. The Hartnell governor provides means of varying spring rate and initial Compression level. This enables the Hartnell governor, to be operated as a stable or unstable governor. The governor speed is increased in steps to give suitable sleeve movements possible. The speeds and sleeve movement are recorded. The readings are repeated at each stage. The result may be plotted as curves of speed against sleeve position. Further tests are carried out by changing the value of variable at a time to produce a family of curves.
